Not So Big Gay Wedding Plan Journey

Our First Meeting – If You’re In Victoria

I’ll meet with you, so I can explain the legal requirements for getting married in Australia. In these COVID times, that first meeting will be held via FaceTime or Zoom, Skype or WhatsApp. In that meeting, I’ll get an idea of what you’re planning for your wedding and you can ask me as many questions as you like. If you wish, I’ll help you fill out the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM), and then you’ll need to sign the NOIM in front of a JP, GP, police officer, or solicitor or barrister as your authorised witness. Then I’ll ask you to lodge it with me – you can scan and email it or you can take a photo of it and send it to me. One month from the date I receive it, I can marry you. I’ll confirm your wedding day in my diary and send you the first of two invoices. The second one is due one month before your wedding.

Our First Meeting – If You’re Not In Victoria

I’ll meet with you by FaceTime or Skype, Zoom or Whatsup, so I can explain the legal requirements for getting married in Australia. I’ll also get an idea of what you’re planning for your wedding and you can ask me as many questions as you like. If you wish, I’ll help you fill out the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM), and then you’ll need to sign the NOIM in front of a notary public or an official from the Australian Embassy or Consulate as your authorised witness. Then I’ll ask you to lodge it with me – you can scan and email it or you can take a photo of it and send it to me, along with evidence of your ID and any death certificates or divorce certificates, if relevant. Any day one month from the date I receive the NOIM, I can marry you. I’ll confirm your wedding day in my diary and send you the first of two invoices. The second one is due one month before your wedding.

First Draft Sent for Your Response

I’ll send you a draft ceremony that includes all the parts of a wedding ceremony that you’re after, based on what I’ve learned about you and your wedding plans, from our first meeting. I’ll ask you to go through the first draft and make any changes you want, before you send it back to me. We can back and forth as many times with different drafts until we’re all really happy with it. And, of course, I’ll happily meet with you (virtually in these COVID times) many times as you wish, to make sure we’re all on the same page. And, as part of my service, you’ll have free access to my e-book on LGBTIQ+ Wedding Rituals and Traditions.

Checking the Paperwork

In the week before your wedding, I’ll send you a copy of the legal form (Official Certificate of Marriage), to make sure that all the necessary details are correct.

Rehearsal

Also, during the week before your wedding, if you wish, we’ll have a run-through your wedding ceremony, to make sure we all know what’s going to happen on your wedding day, to help calm the nerves and avoid any surprises on your special day.

Wedding Ceremony

On your wedding day, you’ll arrive as two single people. I’ll arrive about 45 minutes before your ceremony, with plenty of time for both of you and me to sign the Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage, prior to your ceremony. I’ll also set up and do a sound check of my professional sound system to make sure it’s working perfectly. Then I’ll deliver your ceremony, precisely as you’ve asked – and you’ll leave as a married couple!

Registration of Your Marriage

Within 24 hours of your marriage, I’ll submit all the legally required documents to the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. And I’ll notify you when your marriage has been registered. As well, at no extra cost, I’ll apply for a copy of your registered (legal) marriage certificate to be sent to your home address by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, no matter where you live in the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Micro Weddings Legal?

Of course! I’m a marriage celebrant. I understand that not everyone wants a large wedding at a traditional chapel or wedding venue, with all the associated trappings. Some people prefer a smaller number of guests, a shorter ceremony, and a more informal, relaxed wedding – a micro wedding. If that’s you, I’d love to marry you!.

What’s your budget?

Micro wedding ceremonies are usually a compact affair. They don’t cost you a lot of money either. So my charges would depend mainly on the size and scalability of the ceremony.

Where can you marry us?

I can marry you anywhere in Australia! For even though I am based in Pascoe Vale, I’d love to travel to Melbourne, Regional Victoria or even interstate to get couples together!

What makes you the right wedding celebrant for our ceremony?

I’ve built a reputation as one of Melbourne’s best marriage celebrants. You can check out the testimonials on my website to know more about the ceremonies I cater to.

I love getting people married and share their special day of love. Also, I have worked with a wide range of people over the course of my career. Reach out to me for an authentic and budget-friendly wedding ceremony.

Are you a full-time celebrant?

Yes, I work as a full-time wedding celebrant. I can spend as much time as you’d need to plan out the ceremony for you. This would involve multiple drafting and redrafting sessions, paperwork and more.

When can we plan a meeting?

You can reach out to me via a contact form or an email. Or if you’re comfortable drop me a call on the number provided! I will get back to you as soon as possible and then we can take it from there.

I prefer meeting my clients beforehand to establish a personal touch. So, how about a cup of coffee or some dinner to know each other better?
