Simon Woodcock is a Melbourne photographer specialising in low key weddings with a relaxed, natural and candid style of photography.

Preferring to work in unusual wedding venues instead of reception centres, Simon’s work usually isn’t always the ‘traditional’ set of wedding photos you sometimes get. While he promises to capture the crowd pleasing shots for the family, he’s also always on the lookout for a quirky location or alternative angle for shots with the couple.

Recent wedding venues which he has enjoyed working at include, Two Birds Brewing in Spotswood, nearby Science Works, Mt Worth State Park, a Gippsland hobby farm and Mountain Goat Brewery. Safe to say that if it involves the outdoors or beer, it makes a great wedding venue!

On the day of a wedding, Simon doesn’t direct much of the action, instead letting it unfold in front of the camera. With family and couple portraits, a little more guidance is given, but in comparison to other photographers it’s still quite a ‘hands off’ approach for a natural and authentic look.

LGBTI friendly and easy to chat to, Simon is always keen to hear what couples have planned and can make suggestions for other wedding suppliers that might be a good fit, including florists and wedding videographers.
